“Sweden must be able to make vaccines”

“We should be able to do the most important things ourselves, for example vaccines if we get an epidemic, or anesthetics and intensive care drugs if we get a situation of war,” he says in Ekot’s Saturday interview.

Björn Eriksson sees a great opportunity to rearrange manufacturing in the pharmaceutical factories that already exist in Sweden so that in a crisis they can start doing what is needed most.

— Preparedness will be completely dependent on the fact that the existing business community, the pharmaceutical companies that do it, are also on board and adjust. And there we have good experience of doing it, says Eriksson.

Sweden is dependent on a large amount of medicines that are manufactured abroad, often in China or India.
