Sweden lost the podium after Sebastian Samuelsson shot himself away

Norway won the race in superior style, ahead of runners-up Germany who were cheered on by the Oberhof crowd.

The Swedish team, with Emil Nykvist, Jesper Nelin, Martin Ponsiluoma and Sebastian Samuelsson, looked for a long time to be heading for third place.

But then Samuelsson shot away in the last shot. The 26-year-old accounted for a total of four barriers, which crushed the Swedish podium chances.

– I thought I was quite relaxed, I really like those situations. I don’t think the first two shots felt that bad, but they missed and then I got stressed, says Samuelsson and continues:

“I can’t handle it”

– I think I should be safe and stable. I won’t say it’s a lot of pressure, but I feel like I should do well but I can’t.

SVT Sports expert Björn Ferry gives his view of Samuelsson’s unsuccessful shooting.

– It is doubtful and passive. There will be several booms but it’s still slow, it’s a shame. He cannot be satisfied with that, says Ferry.

Italy finished third in the competition, while Sweden had to settle for fourth place.
