Sweden is returning its support to the Palestinian aid organization

Sweden’s decision to start financing again does not change Finland’s policy for the time being.

Finland’s funding for the Palestinian refugee aid organization UNRWA will remain suspended for the time being, says the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio (ps.).

– The suspension is valid for the time being and Finland is waiting for an explanation. I expect an explanation in the next few weeks, Tavio commented to .

According to Tavio, two entities under the UN are investigating the activities of UNRWA.

Among others, Finland and Sweden froze their support at the end of January after accusations came out that several members of the organization were involved in the terrorist attacks of the extremist organization Hamas in Israel on October 7 last year.

Earlier today, it was reported that Sweden will restart payments to the organization. Canada also announced that it would continue to fund the aid organization.
