Sweden is preparing to be able to introduce travel restrictions for entry from China to Sweden, the Government Office states in a press release. A restriction that may be added is that travelers must be able to present a negative covid-19 test upon entry.
“The government has given the Public Health Agency the task of analyzing the situation in China and the consequences for Sweden, as well as coming up with proposals for measures, including possible travel restrictions,” says Minister of Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD) in the press release.
The issue has been raised because China abolished barriers to exit at the same time as there is an extensive spread of infection in the country.
In its capacity as EU chairman, Sweden has also called a meeting of IPCR, the council’s crisis management mechanism, on January 4 to discuss a common line.
