Turkey believes that both Sweden and Finland have taken steps towards fulfilling the agreement made with Turkey at the NATO summit in Madrid this summer.

This is what the three countries say in a joint statement after a meeting in Stockholm on Friday, SR Ekot reports.

– It is another small step on the way to Sweden becoming full members of NATO, says chief negotiator Oscar Stenström to Ekot.

The government writes in a press release that the countries welcome increased cooperation between Swedish, Finnish and Turkish authorities, police and security police. Further examples of progress are the expanded terrorism legislation in Sweden, says Stenström to Ekot.

Crimes of participation in the terrorism legislation are to be dealt with in the Riksdag at the beginning of next year. With a crime of participation, anyone who supports a terrorist organization in various ways will also be able to be prosecuted.
