The Swedish Defense Forces have reserved areas for cemeteries from different parts of the country.

Burial associations are looking for new leases for cemeteries in Sweden. The authority responsible for the country’s security and crisis preparedness (MSB) has recommended preparation, reports the news agency AP.

The Swedish Defense Forces has reserved land from different parts of the country for grave sites, the public broadcasting company also reported SVT in November.

Searching for burial sites is a way to prepare for a war that will hopefully never break out. The aim is to prepare grave sites for five percent of the population.

– The recommendations mean that we need more cemeteries. The need is especially in big cities, where there is not always enough land even in times of peace, comments the head of the Gothenburg burial society Katarina Evenseth news agency for AP.
