The gang crime that has become entrenched in the country has led to an explosive increase in serious violent crimes in Sweden in recent years.
The Swedish government will increase the budget of its judiciary by 3.46 billion kroner (303 million euros) in 2025. Together with previous decisions, the funding of the judicial system will increase next year by up to 700 million euros.
Swedish Minister of Justice by Gunnar Strömmer according to, by increasing funding, the aim is to eradicate crime.
– We want to restore safety to Sweden for all honest citizens. In practice, this means three things: Intervening in serious violent crimes, preventing illegal trade, and that we prevent the recruitment of young people and children into gangs, Strömmer says.
By 2027, the funding of the judiciary is to be increased to approximately nine billion kroner.

Sweden currently has the highest number of firearms crimes in relation to its population among EU countries. Although the country has seen fewer gang-related shootings this year than last year, it is possible for new cycles of violence to start at any moment.
