Sweden extradited PKK member Mahmut Tat to Turkey

Sweden extradited Mahmut Tat, who was sentenced to 6 years and 10 months in prison for membership in the terrorist organization PKK/KCK, to Turkey.

According to the information received, Tat applied for asylum in Sweden in 2015 due to his prison sentence, but received a refusal.

Tat was detained by the police in Sweden a while ago, and was taken to the detention center in Mölndal. Tat, whose procedures were completed here, was sent to Turkey by plane.

The plane, carrying Mahmut Tat and taking off from the capital Stockholm, landed at Istanbul Airport in the evening.

Tat was taken from the plane by the police and taken to the Istanbul Airport Police Department. It has been learned that Tat, who has undergone a health check, will be detained at the Istanbul Airport Police Department tonight.

Mahmut Tat, who has a finalized prison sentence of 6 years and 10 months for membership in the PKK/KCK, is expected to be referred to the courthouse after the completion of his proceedings.

SWEDEN PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCED

In a statement to his country’s news agency TT, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson evaluated the second joint mechanism meeting held in Stockholm within the scope of the Tripartite Memorandum signed by Turkey, Finland and Sweden at the NATO Madrid Summit on 28 June.

Referring to the new terror law, Kristersson said, “The implementation of the terror law, which will be introduced at the beginning of this year and prevents participation in terrorist organizations, will begin before summer. Sweden continues to comply with the agreement with Turkey.” he had spoken.

Kristersson said that Turkey did not know when Sweden would approve NATO membership and that Turkey would know. (AA)
