Sweden closed the investigation into the Nord Stream gas pipeline

The Nord Stream gas pipeline sabotage incidents took place in September 2022.

Sweden has decided to end the investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, says the Swedish Broadcasting Company SVT.

The Swedish Prosecutor’s Office announced the end of the investigation in its press release.

Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist says in the press release that the main purpose of the Swedish investigation has been, among other things, to find out whether Swedes were involved in the sabotage of the pipelines or whether damage was done to the pipelines from Swedish territory.

According to the authorities, they now have a good view of what happened. According to them, Sweden or Swedes were not involved in the act, so the investigation should be closed as far as Sweden is concerned.

Ljungqvist says that he cannot comment further on the conclusions of the investigation or name the suspected persons.

In addition to Sweden, Germany, Denmark and Poland have also investigated the case.

According to Ljungqvist, at least Germany will continue its own investigation.
