After the Junior crowns’ loss against Finland in the Junior World Cup, the bronze medal match against the Czech Republic now awaits.
The USA defeated the Czechs in the semi-finals 4-1 and the already reigning champions will now face Finland in the final, which will be played on Monday night.
Sweden’s semi-final was a real shocker, Finland won 4–3 after extra time.
– It sucks, we want to play the final. Now it’s done, so it’s just a matter of recharging before the bronze medal match, said Sweden’s team captain Axel Sandin-Pellikka in SVT’s broadcast last night, after the heavy loss.
Sweden had won all five matches, including against the Czech Republic by 4–2, on the way to the semi-final against Finland. The Czech Republic, in turn, knocked out home team Canada in the quarter-finals.
The bronze match will be played on Sunday evening, 21.30 Swedish time.
