The government may re -prioritize the aid to the outside world if it turns out that US planned cuts in its aid beating too hard on areas that are important to Sweden, says Minister of Debt Benjamin Dousa (M) to Sweden’s Radio Ekot.
– I usually go from reviewing other countries ‘aid policy, but can mostly find that it will have devastating consequences in several areas, not least in health, vaccine and other drugs, women’s and girls’ rights around the world, access to secure abortions, says Dousa.
The Minister of Development further states that it is difficult to know what conclusions can be drawn because it is difficult to get hold of the US Aid Authority USAID.
The US government announced on Thursday that over 90 percent of all agreements at USAID will be terminated. The value of the contracts is estimated at the equivalent of just over SEK 640 billion.
