Sweden badly out in the European Championship qualifiers

After two losses, one against Austria and one against Belgium and only one win against Azerbaijan in previous qualifying matches, the pressure is rock hard. Sweden must win all remaining matches to qualify for the EC.

Olof Lundh, columnist on Fotbollskanalen, on the other hand, describes the atmosphere in the football squad as good and hopes that it will also be seen on the field tomorrow.

– They say that everything is great, but at the same time also that they haven’t played very well. For Sweden, only victory counts in this crucially important EC qualifying match. They have to solve this. Estonia is ranked 111 and Sweden will solve it.

“Win or disappear”

In addition, criticism is directed at national team captain Janne Andersson. Sportbladet asked its readers after the loss against Austria if Janne Andersson should stay and then 76 percent of those who voted answered that he should resign.

– It is a very stressful situation for Janne Andersson right now, but also for the players. Nobody wants to miss the football party in Germany next summer and now it looks dark. It’s win or lose.

He continues:

– Andersson will not stay regardless of whether they make it to the EC or not, I can’t imagine that. If it stops sometime in the fall, I think that’s the last we’ll see. There is no direct samba dance around Janne Andersson right now, but that’s how it is when you are the national team captain. You are in the limelight and so you have to take both the negative and the positive.
