During the night, a large amount of diesel has reached the water in Stavsnäs winter harbor on Värmdö, the Coast Guard writes on its website.
– It is a larger emission for being so local. However, the discharge has been stopped for several hours, which is positive, says Mattias Lindholm, press spokesperson at the Coast Guard to P4 Stockholm.
The discharge comes from a filling station in the port. It is unclear how large the amounts are.
A certain amount must have been taken up, but because the diesel is a volatile oil product, it has spread throughout the port area.
Lindholm tells P4 Stockholm that there is an ongoing police investigation into what caused the spill.
