Sweden and eight other NATO countries buy naval mines

Sweden and eight other NATO countries aim to jointly purchase and store sea mines, reports Reuters.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who is behind the initiative, explains that it is needed to prevent Russian expansion.

– We have recently seen that Russia tried to expand its territorial waters outside Kaliningrad. We are all very clear that we will not allow something like that, he told Reuters.

Defense Minister Pål Jonson signs X that they signed a declaration of intent during the ongoing NATO meeting in Washington.
