According to Climate Minister Romina Pourmokhtari (L), new reactors should be able to be built where they do the most good. The restrictions in the environmental code will be abolished and more actors will be able to build reactors.
– It can be municipalities, companies and industries that want both heat and electricity. Then there will be other opportunities because there are other players who want to build than those who own the Oskarshamn and Ringhals sites, says SVT’s reporter Johan Zachrisson Winberg.
Steps towards the expansion
Today’s announcement means that the government is taking further steps towards the expansion of Swedish nuclear power. Something that was promised in the Tidö Agreement, says Johan Zachrisson Winberg.
– They want to facilitate the possibilities of building new nuclear power. Then many actors believe that a broader political consensus is required.
