SVT’s CEO criticizes Åkesson after play on TV4 review: damages the free word

In tonight’s 30 minutes, SVT’s CEO Anne Lagercrantz directs harsh criticism of the Swedish Democrats Jimmie Åkesson.

TV4 Cold Fact’s disclosure last year that the Swedish Democrats raised anonymous accounts received a lot of attention. The disclosure came in the middle of the EU election movement and SD leader Jimmie Åkesson went to rock hard counter-attacks and called Kalla Fact’s disclosure for a “gigantic domestic impact operation”.

“Suspicion for free media”

For 30 minutes, the SVT manager says Åkesson’s statement harms the free word.

– When Jimmie Åkesson judges and suspects TV4’s review, he suspects free media.

Anne Lagercrantz further develops.

– You may want to have views on how things are done and why but here I stand because he undermines the free word, says Lagercrantz.

“It may decide that SD voters”

Swedish Democrats are the voter group that in measurements state that they have the lowest confidence in SVT. And Lagercrantz gets asked how she believes that confidence is affected by the fact that she attacks the SD leader.

– This is what Swedish Democratic voters have to decide. There is nothing I weigh in, says Lagercrantz.
