SVT’s Anders Blomquist about Stina Nilsson’s new success in Ski Classics

Stina Nilsson really succeeds in Ski Classics.
Now she is praised by SVT expert Anders Blomquist after her change from biathlon to long-distance running.
– She has found the right way in heavy uphill staking, she is adaptive, he says.

Many probably raised their eyebrows when Stina Nilsson31, announced after last season that her biathlon days are over. Four years was enough. Instead, the former long-distance star, who won Olympic and World Cup gold in sprints, chose to invest in long-distance running.

Stina Nilsson’s successful change of sport

Many thought that the transition from one sport to another would be difficult for her. Perhaps it was because she never really succeeded as a biathlete that many suspected that even this shift would be too challenging. However, she has proven that she will be a force to be reckoned with this Ski Classics season.

Blomquist’s words about Stina Nilsson

This weekend it was time again for Stina. In Italian Sixten and La Venosta she came fourth (60 km) and second (11 km individual start) respectively. Her second podium since her debut. The Norwegian Emilie Fleten and the Swede won Jenny Larsson came third – she also came second in Saturday’s race.
– I am very happy. The key for me was opening hard to feel like I was in the race. I felt super strong at the highest point. It was just a matter of getting the iron into the goal. I am very pleased that it was enough for second place, says Stina to SVT afterwards.
