SVT/Veriance: The proportion of uncertain voters highest in twelve years – young women hesitate most

Over the past month, it has been characterized by uncertainty in the outside world, which has received the media reporting to revolve around Donald Trump, the war in Ukraine and commercial duties. In this situation, the opinion situation is relatively stable in Sweden, which shows SVT/Verrans measurement for March.

– Recently, the agenda has been almost entirely about European security and Ukraine. It has penetrated the domestic political issues and led to an unusually low level of conflict in Swedish politics. Therefore, it is not surprising that we do not see any major movements in public opinion in March, although the opposition’s management is increasing slightly, says Per Söderpalm, opinion manager at Veriance.

The opposition is growing somewhat while the time parties are losing support. The block difference is in the measurement is 6.8 percent. The party that loses most in the survey is the Swedish Democrats, which drops 1.8 percentage points compared to the February survey. However, the change is within the margin of error.

C over the latch

If you look at the small parties, the Center Party falls just over the barrier after they fall under the barrier in the last monthly measurement. The fact that party leader Muharrem Demirok announced his departure has not made any major imprints on public opinion.

In the survey, 15.9 percent do not want to state any party, which is a significant increase compared to last month. These answers are referred to as uncertain voters and this proportion has not been so high in a verification measurement since 2013.

– The proportion of uncertain voters is increasing and amounts to just under 16 percent in March – the highest listing since 2013. The increase can partly be due to the troubled world situation and is an indication that there is still mobility in the electorate. We see the highest proportion of uncertain voters among young people and women, says Per Söderpalm.
