SVT reveals: Legionella infection on Tom Tits – experiment had to be removed

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

It was Smittskydd Stockholm who informed Södertälje municipality that a person who had been infected by legionella had visited Tom Tits and that there was a risk that he had been infected there. And when the environmental office sampled four experiments at the end of March this year, one of the samples was positive.

However, the legionella bacteria found were not of the same type as the infected person, and therefore he has probably been infected elsewhere. However, Tom Tit’s experiments take seriously the existence of legionella, and the water installation where the bacteria were found has now been removed.

The municipality follows up

The municipality of Södertälje is also taking the incident seriously and will now follow up the Science Museum’s purification routines.

– Legionella that spreads can cause pneumonia, so it is serious, says Mattias Bårström, environmental inspector at Södertälje municipality.
