The last year has not been easy at all for the veteran Caroline Victory which has been dragged with major injury problems for many months. This weekend she once again made a comeback for Rosengård in the Damallsvenskan and then sent a clear pass ahead of this summer’s football World Cup.
Victory for the WC?
The 38-year-old aims to get in full match shape and take a place in the Swedish World Cup squad.
– A Caroline Seger in good shape is obviously in a WC, the Swede told SVT at the time.

But the question is whether it is worth taking a chance with an injured 38-year-old in the form of national team captain Seger. After the Swede’s performance about the World Cup, the SVT expert now steps up Hanna Marklund in and puts his foot down in the matter.
– Yes, it goes without saying that she should be (in the squad). If she is playable and in good shape, then she is a given, says Marklund to SVT Sport.
– She wants to show that she has meant a lot to the national team and that she has a place there. She wants to be very clear that if she is in good shape, she should join. I think that is reasonable.

Marklund’s judgment
This year’s Women’s World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, and then Caroline Seger hopes to be part of what will most likely be her very last championship in the national team. Former national team player Hanna Marklund sees several advantages in having the 38-year-old in the blue-and-yellow WC squad.
