Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The long-awaited World Ski Championships will soon begin.
Now SVT expert Anders Blomquist gives his verdict on the Swedes’ medal chances.
– He has taken a violent big step this year, says Blomquist and points out a particular name for SVT Sport.

Sweden has announced its blue-and-yellow national team squad for the World Ski Championships and, as expected, it was the last big name Lynn Svahn. Now only the countdown to February 23 awaits, when the long-awaited championship starts.

Strong ladies

Sweden comes to the Ski World Cup in Planica, Slovenia with great confidence and a hope of being able to beat the Swedish medal record of nine from 2015. The women’s side already looks extremely strong with big medal favorites like Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson, Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist and several others.

Also being able to add the sprint specialist Svahn makes Sweden very difficult to stop in both short and long distances.
– I am happy that Linn Svahn is with us. The way she has come back from her injury and with the potential that is there, it is the right selection. And there is a skater who I think can fight for medals, says the expert Anders Blomquist to SVT Sport.

Young gentlemen

When it comes to the men’s side, the squad is nowhere near as impactful, but there are still some potential medal candidates here.
– There are actually several who have the capacity to get there and win a medal. We have seen “Wille” (William Poromaa) going great this winter, a young and promising guy who continues to make strides. He has a great chance to do so. And Calle Halfvarsson, who is better than in a very long time, he also feels like a great contender. Then we have young guys on the sprint side who can really hit. It feels great fun!, says the expert Blomquist in his explanation and points out a particular young skater.
– Edvin Anger has taken a violent big step this year as a first-year senior. It takes a lot and that everything is right that day, but the way he has ridden, he can definitely be in the fight for medals.

Before the World Ski Championships, there is still one thing that is certain, according to popular expert Anders Blomquist, and that is the following:
– There will be medals, I’m absolutely sure of that!, he tells the TV channel.
