Where he still surprises everyone and chooses Torgny Mogren before Gunde Svan.
On Friday, the ski season finally started in earnest again. The premiere day of the World Cup offered the men’s and women’s sprint races in Finnish Ruka and once again it was Sweden and Norway that dominated.
Ribom victor
Norway once again convinced on the men’s side and on the women’s side the Swedes excelled as four blue-yellow skaters made it to the final. But both Frida Karlsson and Lynn Svahn were out of luck when Emma Ribom and Jonna Sundling pulled away from everyone to finish first and second.

A fantastic blue-yellow start to the ski season and this weekend the distance competitions continue. But in connection with the ski premiere in Ruka, the SVT expert also got Anders Blomquist a most unexpected question in a chat with the Swedish people.
Swan & Mogren
Namely, the user “Ronnie” wondered: “Which of Torgny Mogren and Gunde Svan would have been the best in sprinting?”. None of the ski heroes have competed against each other in sprint races since that variant was first introduced in the World Cup in the 1996/97 season and then only entered the World Ski Championships in 2001.

Gunde Swan won four Olympic golds and seven World Cup golds during his skiing career that ended in 1991. While Torgny Mogren won an Olympic gold and four World Cup golds before his career ended in 1998.

Blomquist then delivers a surprising answer in a possible sprint duel between Svan and Mogren.
“Spontaneously, I would say that Torgny was faster. But Gunde had a unique ability to develop what would bring him victories,” writes “Blomman” in the SVT chat.
