The international ski season is now completely over.
Then SVT expert Anders Blomquist gives his verdict on the Swedes.
– She has the potential to become the world’s best skier, “Blomman” admits to the TV channel.
During the weekend that was, the World Cup in cross-country skiing came to an end. And we can look back on an absolutely fantastic ski season for our blue-yellow heroes on the slopes.
Blomquist’s judgment
Once again, it is the ladies who delivered the best and they win the national cup with a whopping 2,000 points ahead of runner-up Norway. We have seen incredible efforts from Lynn Svahn who is back at the top of the world again, Frida Karlsson who established himself as a world-class distance skier and Jonna Sundling who impressed both in sprint and distance.

But we have also seen heavier seasons for both Ebba Andersson and Maja Dahlqvist. Now the SVT expert gives Anders Blomquist his verdict on the efforts of the Swedish ski ladies during the season and awards points on a five-digit scale.
Tribute to Linn Svahn
Where exactly the WC queen Andersson has to receive harsh words after a difficult winter.
– Ebba Andersson gets a second (out of five). She has the potential to be the world’s best distance skier. But this year? She started the season fantastically well, but this year she has to symbolize the danger of being an elite skater but wanting to return too quickly after illness. Dangerous to go in too early and she’s had almost the entire season ruined because of it. She is far from her best and she can do better, “Blomman” admits to SVT.

The expert also gives a second to Dahlqvist after tough efforts in the sprint races where she “glimpses sometimes, but really from the first pole this winter she has not been the same. Need to forget this season and then do better for next year”. The higher the score Karlsson and Sundling get.
– Frida gets a four. She shows in her best moments that she is at Johaug level. What she did in Holmenkollen is outstandingly good. She has a fantastic level and has developed her striking. A slightly weak season with illness, some races that were worse than some races in the middle of good periods, where she rides worse, is what makes her not get a fifth. She has the potential to be the world’s best skier. She is sometimes, but if she is going to get a five, she has to show it more often, Blomquist tells the TV channel and continues about Jonna:
– She gets a four. Has had a large part of the season ruined by illness. Difficult for her, but when she comes back and wins distance races, goes well in sprints. It is a very strong season and the form is at its peak when the season is about to end. Can do more if she can be healthy and injury free. But oh, how nicely she skis!

Linn Svahn, who is highly praised for her phenomenal season at the World Cup, obviously gets the best rating of all the skaters. Finally, it comes off for the Swede, who has had to struggle for two years with injuries and rehabilitation.
– Linn Svahn gets a five. Back from a long injury and fighting for the final victory in the overall World Cup, wins the Sprint Cup. Has developed as a skier and stakes better than ever, skis tactically smart, skis technically brilliant. It can’t be anything other than a fifth, it’s superbly well done, says Blomquist in his explanation.
