The article continues below.

Duplantis won by almost a tenth ahead of Warholm in a time of 10.37 and it is extremely impressive for a pole vaulter to run that fast. One person who is really impressed by “Mondo” is the SVT expert and former pole vaulter Alhaji Jeng.
– I didn’t think he would win by such a margin, I really didn’t. He got off to a great start and then once he got out of the acceleration phase there was a huge difference between the two. I still thought that Karsten would be closer, but Mondo he stands by his word, says Jeng to SVT.

Paying tribute to “Mondo”

After the display, the TV expert sees that Duplantis can push his 100m time down further, as the 24-year-old dropped off the pace at the end of the race.
– You can see that he runs a bit haltingly and he looks where he has Karsten. That’s why it’s not so much about time as it is about beating Warholm. Because that’s the duel they want and that’s exactly what he’s powerful with, says Jeng to the television channel.
– But I think that if he went for it, he could probably go down to a 10.20. I definitely think he could do that.

Just like all Swedes, Jeng is speechless about Armand Duplanti’s incredible capacity and versatility as a track and field athlete.
– The Norwegian breaks a personal record, so that says a lot. Mondo challenged Karsten, because Karsten is doing a long sprint and if it had been a jumping event, maybe Karsten would have had a better chance. But in this case, Mondo really goes into a disadvantage and yet he parades into the finish and beats him by a margin, says Alhaji Jeng about the historic race.
