SVT after the activist coup: "No surprise"

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

— It’s no surprise, says Melodifestivalen’s project manager Anders Wistbacka when he hears that it was the group “Restore Wetlands” that once again disrupted an entertainment event.

Last fall, a person from the same movement stormed the stage during the “Idol” finale on TV4. The group themselves now confirm the coup on Twitter and state that it was a researcher from Lund who got on stage during Loreen’s performance in Melodifestivalen.

“The world is in chaos. It’s time to wake up” writes “Restore the wetlands” on Twitter – and states that the coup was carried out because “people will die even here in our country”.

“They have disrupted other TV programs before, so we simply had a plan for it,” says project manager Anders Wistbacka afterwards.

TT: How could this happen anyway?

— I control the television broadcast and our plan is that if someone comes in and disturbs a performance, a number, and comes into the picture, we will cut it out so that it is not visible in the picture.

SVT’s project manager Anders Wistbacka says that SVT has a plan for events such as when activists take the stage.

Concretely, it meant that the broadcast staff switched to the ceiling camera, states Wistbacka.

— And with that, Loreen’s number was ruined for the TV viewer. Then we decided that she will simply have a rematch.

TT: How do you think about security?

— It’s nothing good, of course. But what has happened or not happened I don’t know, and I won’t comment on it then either. We will of course evaluate this and see what happened.
