10-year-old Lewi is one of those affected by his NPF diagnosis then, after he became angry, he has now been ported from his association for almost four months.
How should you as a coach act when you are looking after children and young people with NPF? According to the Swedish Football Association and Attention, which is a nationwide organization for people with NPF diagnoses, there are simple lessons to follow in order to meet the players based on their needs and create conditions where the players thrive, feel good and develop.
– Talk less. Be as short and concise as possible, says Daniel Cortobius, parafootball development consultant.
What is NPF?
NPF stands for neuropsychiatric impairments. Ten percent of today’s children and young people have some form of NPF diagnosis.
A neuropsychiatric examination is carried out to investigate whether the difficulties a child experiences are due to ADHD, autism or some other neuropsychiatric impairment.
Depending on what the investigation shows, you can get different kinds of help and support.
