Svanberg’s Wolfsburg zeroed by Bayern Munich

Mattias Svanberg swapped Bologna for Wolfsburg ahead of the season. Against Bayern Munich, he got his second consecutive league start, but the German giants were far too difficult a test.

Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac coached the away team in 2018–2019 and won both the league and the cup. But that for the evening it only ended with a 0–2 loss for his new team can only be seen as pure luck.

Bayern took command immediately and had a ball in the net already after 20 minutes which was ruled out for offside. It was the new acquisition Sadio Mané who was not quite on the right side.

A quick goal by the talent Jamal Musiala and another ten minutes later by the veteran Thomas Müller already before half time was the coup de grace.

It simply wasn’t Mané’s night who had another ball in the net, which was also flagged for offside.

Svanberg was replaced after 60 minutes.
