Mattias Svanberg swapped Bologna for Wolfsburg ahead of the season. Against Bayern Munich, he got his second consecutive league start, but the German giants were far too difficult a test.
Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac coached the away team in 2018–2019 and won both the league and the cup. But that for the evening it only ended with a 0–2 loss for his new team can only be seen as pure luck.
