Sustainable mobility MIMS and RFI awarded at the ESRI 2022

(Finance) – The Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility (MIMS) e Italian Railway Network Spa (RFI) have won the prize awarded to the Esri Italy 2022 Conferenceheld from 10 to 13 May and dedicated this year to digital transformation as the engine of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). At the basis of the recognition, the project of mobility sustainable which will make it possible to connect railway stations and University through cycle paths. A project in the wake of sustainability and intermodality of transport, which looks with particular attention to the younger generations to promote gentle, green and integrated mobility.

As recalled by Fs News, the information portal of the Ferrovie dello Stato Group, is in fact the train the first means of collective transport used by students and it is for this reason that RFI, after having mapped 395 Italian universities, has decided to develop the project financed by MIMS, as part of the 200 million euros of the PNRR destined for the development program of cycle paths urbanwhich will involve 45 municipalities throughout Italy.

The project “Cycle links stations – universities“- he explains on the portal – was born from a territorial analysis carried out through RFI’s StationLAND location intelligence platform and involves the construction of 565 kilometers of new cycle paths to connect the railway stations to the main Italian universities, of which the first 200 kilometers must be completed by 2023, with pilot projects in Rome, Milan, Bari, Palermo, Pisa and Padua.

The prize was awarded by the Scientific Committee of Esri Italia and was virtually withdrawn by Will be VenturoniStation Management Manager of RFI and from Daniela Marquises, Head of the Department for Planning, Network Transport Infrastructures and Information Systems of the MIMS. The application of GIS (Geographic Information System) technology in the collection of the analyzed and mapped data for the realization of the sustainable mobility project was relevant for the awarding of the prize.

Like every year, the evolution of solutions geospatial, in geolocation and in Geographic Information Systems was at the center of the Esri Conference. As part of the 2022 edition of the event, FSTechnology presented his experience in the field of integration between BIM (Building Information Modeling) and GIS for the Management of Railway Yards. In particular, the Virtual Works Management Project, launched in 2019 as Proof Of Concept with the aim of remote monitoring of construction sites, with the integration of different advanced technologies (Drones, BIM, GIS, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics) and automated procedures for calculating the physical progress of the construction. In addition, Italferr also participated in the Esri 2022 Conference, which instead presented the innovative platform “SUIT – Single Desk for Land Engineering” for the optimization of the design and site selection processes for infrastructural works.
