According to Van der Laan, an important first step is to pay a fair price for products, which is also one of the ten points in the Green Farmers Plan. “The fixed costs for farmers have become a lot higher in recent years, but so have the costs of labor. Instead of passing this on in the price, farmers have been intensifying,” she says. “By keeping more animals, for example, and by looking for technical solutions, but that was at the expense of the environment.”
