The province of Utrecht is not the first province with a measure like this. The first trials in Drenthe went well and were expanded to 475 farmers in the province at the beginning of this month. That is more than half of the cattle farmers in Drenthe. Farmers there are according to RTV Drenthe very positive about the idea of rewarding farmers who do well, rather than punishing farmers who do poorly. A similar project is also underway in North Brabant: the Brabant Dairy Farming Biodiversity Monitor.
