Sustainability, Snam: the new path to listening to the territories starts from Umbria

Sustainability Snam the new path to listening to the territories

(Finance) – A new phase of the traditional begins in Umbria, in Norcia process of listening by Snam to local communities. Always recognized as fundamental interlocutors for their activities, local communities – explains Snam in a note – today represent in all respects one of the 7 pillars of the new Sustainability Strategy launched last January by Snam.

The first workshop of the initiative – which took place on 7 November at the DigiPass spaces of the Municipality of Norcia – was coordinated by mayor Giuliano Boccanera and saw the participation of various qualified local actors including the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences of the University of Perugia. A second roundtable meeting on operational aspects took place on 11 December. Through a horizontal involvement of the public and private sector, the working group intends to adopt a participatory approach in identifying a possible initiative that generates value in the territory: in this case the focus was on the agri-food sector, a distinctive characteristic of the affected area.

“Thanks to the fruitful collaboration between the municipal administration and Snam, we want to activate a dialogue with local actors on possible initiatives capable of generating a positive impact on citizens” he commented Boccanera.

“With this initiative, Snam intends to further invest in a strategic resource for sustainable growth, the local communities, operating in the interest and respect of the specificities of the territories crossed by its infrastructures”, he stated Cecilia Gatti, executive director of Institutional Affairs at Snam.

“We believe so much in the value of relationships with the territory, which – he said Matteo Tanteri, director of Sustainability & Social Impact at Snam – we have dedicated a pillar and a half of our Sustainability Strategy to local communities (Local Communities, but also Biodiversity and Regeneration), demonstrating our commitment and that of the broader energy sector to promote a just transition from an environmental point of view , but also economic and social”.
