Sustainability Enerbrain wins the Rolando Polli Award launched by Ambienta

(Tiper Stock Exchange) – ambient, European asset manager entirely focused on environmental sustainability, e McKinsey & Companyan international management consultancy firm, announce Enerbrain as winner of Rolando Polli Award 2023.

L’goal of the award, this year in its first edition – explains Ambienta in a note – is to help young Italian entrepreneurs by accelerating their projects based on more sustainable solutions. In line with Rolando Polli’s passion for entrepreneurial initiatives and environmental sustainability, the Award “aims to support companies that aim to thrive on the markets, have a positive environmental impact and last over time”. The 5 finalist companies, out of the 25 candidates for the Prize, who yesterday were invited to present their project at the final event are Agricolus, Babaco Market, Cubbit, Enerbrain and Rifò. These five realities – reads the note – exemplify how sustainability is a theme that crosses all sectors of the economy: in agriculture, the Agricolus helps companies in the sector to use less water and chemicals; in food, Babaco market offers a new outlet for unsold fruit and vegetables through its e-commerce platform, reducing food waste; in the IT world, Cubbits decreases the energy consumption of data storage by exploiting otherwise unused computer resources; in buildings, the software and hardware solutions of Enerbrain reduce energy consumption by improving comfort; in fashion, Again collects end-of-life garments and reuses the fibers to make new garments.

Given the relevance of the environmental problem and the potential of the business model, the judges decided to award Enerbrain with a mentorship process in which Ambienta and McKinsey will make their know-how and network available on a pro bono basis. Enerbrain has developed a hardware and software solution for the energy management of buildings. Through IoT technologies and control algorithms, it optimizes heating and cooling ensuring high energy savings (20% on average) and better internal comfort levels (90% on average). The evaluation committee has also decided to award a sixth reality, Synergy Flow, with a special mention. Founded in 2022, it was not judged mature enough to compete for the Prize, but the energy storage solution based on waste materials that the startup wants to commercialize in the coming years is particularly promising.
