A Rodney resident faces charges after officers checked out a report of a suspicious vehicle Tuesday night, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers responding to Howard Road near Selton Line in Harwich Township just before 9 pm found a man putting fuel in a vehicle with no license plates parked at roadside, police said.

Officers arrested the man after learning the vehicle had been reported stolen from Bentpath Line in Lambton County, police said.

Investigation revealed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant by Elgin OPP, and was bound by release conditions, including a curfew, in several area jurisdictions. police said.

A Rodney man, 31, is charged with possessing stolen property and seven counts of failing to comply with a release order, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.

Man charged in Blenheim crash

A Harwich Township resident faces an impaired charge after a crash in Blenheim early Wednesday, Chatham-Kent police say.

Emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle crash on Talbot Trail about 1 am Wednesday, police said.

An officer arrested the driver, suspecting he was under the influence of alcohol, police said. The suspect was taken to hospital for medical attention, then to police headquarters for a breath test.

A Harwich Township man, 25, is charged with having blood alcohol over the legal limit, police said. He was released with conditions and a June 12 short date.
