A police officer at the festival site confirmed to an AA correspondent that the suspicious package found near the area was the luggage of a tourist.
According to the news of France Bleu, the network of local radio stations in France, the police arrived at the scene around 13.30 because of the suspicious parcel found near the main building of the festival, Palais Des Festivals Et Congres.
PASSENGER LUGGAGE REMOVED
The police intervention took about 30 minutes. The suspicious package turned out to be passenger luggage that a tourist forgot.
21 FILMS COMPETE FOR THE GOLDEN PALM PRIZE
The 76th Cannes Film Festival, which started on May 16, will continue until May 27.
