    The group was discovered by locals near a temple in Phuket. Many were in poor condition, according to local media reports. Several more are said to have died on the journey.

    According to Thai authorities, the group will now be sent to “a third country”, although it is unclear where. Arrested Rohingya are reportedly often taken to detention facilities described by human rights groups as overcrowded and dirty.

    At least ten people have died in a fire at a hotel in the ski resort of Kartalkaya in northern Turkey.

    The fire broke out in the hotel’s restaurant on Tuesday night, according to the country’s interior minister Ali Yerlikaya.

    – I can’t find any of my students. I hope they are okay, says a ski instructor to the privately owned television channel NTV.

    According to Governor Abdulaziz Aydin, two people died after jumping from the building in panic.

    More than 30 more people have been injured, the state news agency Anatolia reports.

    It is unclear what caused the fire, which occurred during a school holiday when hotels in the area are generally fully booked. Kartalkaya around 30 miles east of Istanbul is a popular ski resort located in the Köroglu mountain range.

    US President Donald Trump says that Hamas is weakened, but that he is not sure if the truce between Israel and Hamas will last.

    “I’m not sure,” Trump told reporters at the White House on his first day as president.

    – It is not our war. It is their war, he continued.

    Trump went on to say that his government could “possibly” help with the reconstruction of Gaza. He compared the war-torn area to a “massive demolition site”.

    “Beautiful things could be done with it,” Trump said, noting Gaza’s “phenomenal” weather and coastal location.

    On his first day, Trump lifted sanctions imposed by Joe Biden on far-right Israeli settlers in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The settlers have been accused of using violence against Palestinians following the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack by Hamas.

    Guitarist John Sykes is dead. This is stated on his official account.

    “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that John Sykes has passed away after a hard battle with cancer,” the post reads.

    John Sykes played guitar in Tygers of Pan Tang, Thin Lizzy and later also with Whitesnake in the 80s.

    He collaborated with David Coverdale on Whitesnake’s album “1987”.

    Sykes later formed the band Blue Murder and also toured as a solo artist.

    The ship with an explosive cargo that was held in the port of Uddevalla for just under a week has been given the green light to travel on after an inspection by the Swedish Transport Agency, reports P4 Väst.

    The ship was supposed to have left Uddevalla and headed for Nouakchott in Mauritania on Tuesday, but was stopped after a series of deficiencies were discovered on board.
