David Fincher is an absolute master of suspense, who doesn’t have to hide from legends like Alfred Hitchcock. After cult films like Sieben or Fight Club, he created an exceptional thriller in 2014 with Gone Girl – The Perfect Victim, in which Ben Affleck plays one of his best roles as a suspect husband. It’s on TV today.
On TV: Ben Affleck as an innocent victim or an unscrupulous murderer
Gone Girl revolves around Nick Dunne (Affleck) who one morning notices his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) missing. However, public sympathy with his subsequent, apparently desperate search turns into the opposite, as Clues to Amy’s violent death emerge.

And this is just the first of several disturbing twists from Fincher’s suspense masterpiece. In 149 minutes, the film changes perspectives several times, questions the viewer’s morality and finally releases the pent-up tension in shockingly bloody scenes.
Affleck shows the entire range of his acting skills and oscillates between desperation and sadness, harshness and brutality, remorse and an almost clumsy helplessness. So it’s no wonder that the thriller was enthusiastically received by many critics (via Rotten Tomatoes).
When is Gone Girl on TV?
