Officers responding to a report of an injured man at a Christina Street North business, near Maxwell Street, about 1:30 am Sunday found a 43-year-old man with multiple head lacerations, police said.

Lambton EMS paramedics took the man to Bluewater Health, where he was treated and later released, police said.

Security video footage from the business showed the man sleeping, hunched over at an outdoor table, before several individuals appeared on bikes, police said.

The video shows one rider take a red bag of belongings from the sleeping victim, police said. The other rider can be seen hitting the man over the head about a dozen times with what appeared to be a chain with a makeshift handle.

Part of the weapon was recovered later by investigators, police said.

  • The other was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket with Reebok-like lettering, and Nike Jordan shoes with white symbols and white soles.
