A large police operation is underway in central Stockholm after a suspicious shooting.
A large area has been cordoned off in the area between Djurgårdsbron, the Nobel Park and the Oscar Church, and several people have been detained.
– A police patrol that was at Strandvägen heard what they suspected was gunfire at 2am. It has not yet been confirmed, but a large area is cordoned off and we have several people in custody who are believed to be connected to it, says Per Fahlström, press spokesperson for the Stockholm region.
The police are still secretive about how many people have been arrested and on what grounds the people have been arrested.
– Unfortunately, I cannot say anything more because it could complicate the investigation, says Per Fahlström.
A preliminary investigation regarding serious weapons crime has been launched and police forensics will carry out a technical investigation to investigate whether a shooting has taken place.
