Boy under 15 is suspected of the shooting at Kungsmässan, according to Aftonbladet • One to hospital
A shooting took place at the Kungsmässan shopping center in Kungsbacka during Sunday afternoon. A boy under the age of 15 is now suspected of the crime, according to information to Aftonbladet.
– One person has been arrested, says police spokesperson Christian Brattgård to Expressen.
Stefan Jägerbring was at the mall with his son, his son’s partner and his grandson, who is 1.5 years old. The family was nearby when they heard the shots. They, along with many others, started to run towards the exit.
– My granddaughter didn’t understand much, she sat in the cart, we turned 180 degrees and ran, it was a bit of a hectic atmosphere.
He continues:
– It’s crap that it’s happening and has come to Kungsbacka.
“Slow bang”
15-year-old Magda also witnessed the incident. She says that the suspected perpetrator was masked and entered the mall on an electric scooter.
– Me and a friend were on our way out when we met him. He was completely black in the eyes and looked very suspicious, says Magda to TV4 Nyheterna.
Then they heard the shots.
– It really sounded bang, then we heard a lot of screaming.
Magda says that she understood immediately that it was a shot, even though she had never heard one before. Suddenly people ran out of the mall.
– My friend froze, she went into shock, she continues.
Carried out on a stretcher
Magda tells how she then saw two guards who threw themselves at the person and wrestled him down when he tried to get out.
Police and ambulances quickly arrived on the scene and the crowd outside the mall saw a person being carried out on a stretcher.
– There were quite a few young people around the place who stood quite close, some screamed, there were many who cried, some who were in shock and filming.
According to witness statements to P4 Halland the shooting is said to have taken place in a store. According to other media reports, the person shot should have been an employee of the store.
City Hall open for support
The alarm came at 3:07 p.m. and the mall was evacuated.
– I can confirm that an evacuation is underway, said Jessica Wikestam, marketing and communications manager of Aranäs properties, earlier to TV4 Nyheterna.
Kungsbacka municipality has activated its crisis support function and has opened the City Hall to the public due to the shooting.
The police are currently classifying the incident as attempted murder.
