Three people were killed in Friday’s shooting at a Kurdish cultural center and a hair salon in central Paris. Another three people were injured in the attack, but none of them have life-threatening injuries.

The suspected shooter is a 69-year-old man who has admitted to having a “pathological” hatred of foreigners. He is charged with, among other things, murder, attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons.

The shootings sparked violent protests on Friday and Saturday as demonstrators clashed with police. Participants in the protests have stated that French security services did not do enough to prevent the attack.

On Monday, hundreds of people marched in Paris’s 10th arrondissement, where the shootings took place, chanting “Our martyrs do not die” in Kurdish and demanding “truth and justice”. Some of the protesters waved PKK flags while others held up banners accusing Turkey of being a murderous state.

Turkey has reacted strongly to the demonstrations, summoning France’s ambassador to protest “anti-Turkish propaganda”.
