A grand jury in the US state of Nevada has put six Republicans on trial on suspicion of acting as false electors during the 2020 presidential election – that is, the people who formally vote for the state’s election winner.

According to the grand jury, the six falsely declared then-President Donald Trump as the state’s winner.

Fake certificates of this type – where Trump was falsely claimed to have won – were signed in a total of seven so-called swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Nevada.

For example, Michigan’s state attorney has already filed charges against 16 Republicans who, during the 2020 presidential election, are suspected of having acted as false voters.
