Spanish police have arrested three “extremely dangerous” suspected mafia members, wanted in Italy for, among other things, attempted murder, arms smuggling and money laundering.
According to the police, one of the suspects is the leader of a “dangerous family clan” in the Neapolitan Camorra, the others are his son and his son-in-law. The three were arrested in Marbella.
The investigation began when the Spanish police found out that the leader, who is suspected of money laundering, had fled from Italy to Spain. He was reportedly tracked to a house in Marbella that he almost never left, according to the police statement.
The son is accused of attempted murder and weapons smuggling and risks a 30-year prison sentence. The son-in-law, who is accused of drug smuggling and tobacco smuggling, can be sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The effort was made in collaboration with the Italian police.
