Suspected gang recruitment of hockey kids in Sandviken

It was last Wednesday evening that a couple of 14-15-year-old boys tried to recruit some ten-year-old hockey players for gang crime at Jernvallen in Sandviken, something that Arbetarbladet was the first to tell about.

The youths showed the children clips of weapons, ammunition and drugs, and offered them both candy and swish money. But the children instead raised the alarm about what had happened.

– Fortunately, our boys had been very good. They talked to their adults, parents and leaders, about this, says Markus Baggström, chairman of Sandvikens ice hockey club SIK.

The club will now report the incident to the police.

– We see an increased criminal wave in society, and we absolutely do not want our young people in hockey and sports in general to end up in something like this, says Markus Baggström.

In recent years, Sandviken has had problems with gang-related crime, and has suffered, among other things, from several gang-related murders.
