The alarm came shortly after 09:30 on Monday morning. A fire had broken out in the Norra Hallsås area in Lerum. The emergency services stated at 10 o’clock that no one had been injured.
– Residents have evacuated themselves, says Kalle Kivistö, alarm and line operator at the Greater Gothenburg Rescue Service.
Regarding the possible risk of spread, the Rescue Service has no information about this at the moment, but states that they are on site with “several units and will remain for several hours”.
Aggravated arson
There are several fire spots in the building and the police suspect that the fire was set and are therefore classifying the incident as aggravated arson.
– No suspect has been found at the moment, says Jens Andersson, police spokesperson.
The police will later cordon off the scene and carry out a technical investigation.
