The suspected dangerous object has been found outside the gate of an apartment building at an address in Trelleborg.
At first glance, the police have not been able to assess whether the object is dangerous, and have therefore called in the national bomb disposal unit for a closer investigation.
The area around the home has been cordoned off and residents are being housed.
