Suspected dangerous object in Örebro – VMA issued

The address in Örebro, which earlier on Saturday was cordoned off and evacuated due to an alarm about a dangerous object, is now secured by the bomb protection that was in place.

The object should no longer pose any danger, the police write. They also write that further investigation may determine whether the object was sharp or not.

According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, it must have been a sharp object.

The alarm about the suspicious object was received by the police shortly before 2 pm on Saturday.

– It was a whistleblower who raised the alarm about the object, says Gabriel Henning.

VMA issued

The National Bomb Squad was called in during the afternoon and shortly after 8pm on Saturday night, the police announced that they had secured the scene.

At 16:00 on Saturday afternoon, a so-called VMA was also issued, an important message to the public urging residents in Sörbyängen/Ladugårdsängen to stay in their homes “until the police or rescue service personnel instructs them to leave and find an assembly point”.

Preparation for general destruction

The emergency services worked at the same time to evacuate people from the current address where the suspicious object was found.
Three stairwells in the property in question were evacuated.

Forensic technicians will now step in to carry out a crime scene investigation before the cordons can be lifted at the address in question.

The incident is classified as preparation for public destruction.
