Suspected bomb man arrested – deed can be linked to shooting

A few minutes after midnight on January 23, an explosive charge at a gate in the Uppsala district of Industristaden detonated. The entrance was totally destroyed and several window panes were crushed.

– I’ve never heard such a bang before. They woke up with a panic feeling, said Karin Modig, who lives in the area.

Last Saturday, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the blast. On Tuesday, he was arrested, against his denial, suspected of grossly dangerous destruction.

– We suspect he has performed the blast, then we check if there are more suspects – it is often that you share the roles in this type of crime, says prosecutor Linn Lööw.

Investigates connections

At the address lives a person who was shot in connection with the shooting into a hairdressing salon last fall.

– There is nothing I can comment on at all, but of course we look at connections to other events, says Linn Lööw.

Last week, a 19-year-old was indicted for the attempted murder at the hairdressing salon. In conjunction with the arrest, he stated that he was recruited by people linked to Ismail “The Strawberry” Abdo, whose mother was shot dead in Brillinge in the fall of 2023 – a murder that is considered the origin of the bloody wave of violence.
