The alarm about the fire came at 6 p.m. How it started is not clear, but people must have raised the alarm about what they thought was an explosion.
– We are investigating how the fire started. It seems to have had an explosive course, it must have occurred quickly, says Helena Boström Thomas, press spokesperson for the police in the Stockholm region.
The fire should not have caused any extensive damage in the stairwell. Nor should anyone be injured.
The police have made findings that indicate that the fire was arson and are investigating it as suspected arson. The area around the apartment building is cordoned off and the police are looking for one or more suspects.
