Police said Tuesday three men and two women, all from Sarnia, were facing charges after extensive raids in the city and Point Edward – including at auto-repair shops – but added one of the suspects was wanted on additional charges.

Nathan Keith Raaymakers, 41, turned himself in Wednesday morning and was held for a bail hearing, police said in an update.

The raids were carried out as part of an extensive investigation by the Sarnia police vice unit into the trafficking of large amounts of cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl. Police said vice officers were granted search warrants for two automotive body shops in the 800 block of Phillip Street East, addresses in the 100 block of Richard Street, 400 block of Wellington Street, 400 block of Devine Street, and an automotive body shop in the 100 block of Kendall Street in Point Edward.

Searches began Jan. 12 and were completed on Jan. 13, police said. Searches on Phillip Street East and Kendall Street are alleged to have found illegal drugs, as well as packaging, scales and other paraphernalia believed to be used in producing and distributing street drugs, police said.

A number of suspects attempted to flee or hide as officers entered the Phillip Street addresses but were apprehended, police said.

Police said drugs, along with a replica handgun, a homemade stun gun and drug paraphernalia, were found at the Wellington Street address. It’s alleged the searches uncovered 954.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 122 grams of pure carfentanil, an opioid that’s 4,000 times more potent than heroin.

Also allegedly seized were street-ready fentanyl, cocaine, hydromorphone pills and morphine pills.

The drugs, along with cash seized during the search, had a total value of $171,006, police said.
